Trade-In and Return Policies

All sales or purchases either in person at Schultz Strings or online at schultzstrings.com are not eligible for return. Schultz Strings is pleased to offer a trade-in policy for instruments and bows purchased. If you purchase an instrument and/or bow from us, you have the opportunity to trade it back in. This is a one-to-one trade meaning you can trade one bow for one bow or one violin for one violin, etc. You may trade-in a similar instrument to what you are purchasing. When you are ready for a nicer instrument (or the next size up), you may trade in your instrument for 100% of what you paid for it (including rental credit discounts or previous trade credit), minus the cost of necessary refurbishments per evaluation by our staff. This trade-in value may then be used up to 80% of the price of the new instrument. Major damages may reduce the trade-in value. We also accept some instruments purchased elsewhere for trade per evaluation by our staff.

Approval (Trial) Policies

We are proud to be able to offer our clients a trial period with our instruments and bows before purchasing. Accessories are not eligible. Most approvals are for one week and availability to ship items may be limited. It is best to make an appointment to try instruments in the store before taking them on approval. Here are the policies for taking an instrument out on Approval:
 
  1. Any damage or loss to items while out on approval will be assessed by Schultz Strings and billed to the customer. The amount of compensation for damaged or lost items shall be determined at the sole discretion of Schultz Strings, but shall not exceed price listed on approval or fair market value, whichever is higher.
  2. The Customer is responsible for any cost associated in returning items that they do not wish to purchase. Items must be returned in a manner that will keep the item safe and in the same working condition as when it went into the customer's possession. Items must be in the possession of Schultz Strings, or its representatives, by the end of the approval period. Customers are encouraged to insure items being shipped back to Schultz Strings for the price listed on this approval.
  3. Items not returned by the ending date of approval period will be considered purchased by the customer. The price listed on the instrument approval will be the sale price and the customer will be billed for this amount. Final payment in full will be due ten (10) days after the ending date of the approval period.
  4. The credit card on file will be charged ten (10) days after the end of the approval period if items are not returned or are returned damaged.
  5. Extensions of approval period are generally not allowed.
     

Shipping for Online Store Purchases

Purchases shipped within the 48 contiguous states will be as follows:
  • Purchases under $50.00 will be charged $10.00 for shipping in the SpeeDee delivery area and is $15.00 outside of the SpeeDee delivery area.
  • Purchases $50.00 and over will be shipped FREE

For purchases shipped outside of the 48 contiguous states, fees will vary and can be very expensive.
